Every corporation, church, and upscale neighborhood on the station has its own security.
Becoming a Security Guard
Private security companies are given extraordinary leeway on how they deal out violence as part of their work. To curtail the legal troubles that accompany such a business, the station requires would-be security guards to go through special training and attain certification depending on their skill sets. A mystic or witchwarper interested in such a job might need to go through additional screenings and training to obtain a license to wield magic against civilians.
Robot Coworkers
Security robots (Alien Core 162) are just as common around Absalom Station as security guards, but many security guards resent losing out on lucrative business to robots. As a compromise, many security companies deploy observer-class security robots to support their guards, not replace them. Some security guards forced to work alongside the bulkier protection-class security robots, which they consider more of a threat to their livelihood, invent rude names for the robots, at best. Others treat their robots like beloved pets.
