Orc Heritages

Because they lack a larger community and more unified identity, orcs come from extremely varied backgrounds. Choose one of the following orc heritages at 1st level.

SFS Standard Apostae Delver Orc

You hail from the hollow planet Apostae at the fringes of Pact World space. You likely come from a hold plundering the tunnels for ancient alien technology. Sometime during the Gap, your ancestors left Torag's side and arrived on Apostae alongside the Azrinaran elves who now inhabit the lonely world. Many orcs like yourself work in corporate servitude, perhaps paying off debts incurred by ancestors. You might also have recently finished paying off a familial debt and now set out on your own, putting your skills in the tunnels to use. You maybe joined an adventuring company or perhaps looked to form your own corporation. You gain the Additional Lore feat for Apostae Lore. Once per day, if you fail a saving throw against a trap, you can immediately reroll the save. This is a fortune effect.

Feats Requiring Apostae Delver Orc…

Learned From the Tunnels

SFS Standard Clan Kindred Orc

The belief that your ancestors walk with Torag among the stars holds a personal meaning for you. Raised among dwarves, you're a symbol of all that's been lost but also all that's been built anew. Dwarves have taught you all your life, taking you in just as they would any other member of the clan, while also recognizing your importance to their shared culture with orcs. You gain the Dwarven Lore feat, learn Dwarven as an additional language, and gain the clan crystal dwarven ancestry feature. In addition, when you gain an ancestry feat, you can choose from dwarf and orc feats in addition to those from other sources.

SFS Standard Marixan Warhawk Orc

You grew up on the Near Space world of Marixah at the height of its cold war with the nearby Gideron Authority. You have trained since you were born, preparing for a war your people have anticipated for decades. You might believe in the righteousness of your cause or believe the war needs to end quickly to save lives when it does begin. You gain the Additional Lore feat for Warfare Lore. When you perform the Scout exploration activity at the start of an encounter, in addition to the normal bonuses for using the Scout exploration activity, you can roll a Warfare Lore check instead of a Perception check both to determine your initiative and confirm whether or not undisguised and observed enemies are part of or trained by a military (using simple DCs as normal for Recall Knowledge).

SFS Standard Student of Creation Orc

The spiritual connection between you and the missing deity, Torag is strong. Where departed orcs are thought to battle at Torag's side in some cosmic battle of the divine, you remain in the universe to help build. Unlike those who grew up among dwarves or workers for the azrinarans of Apostae, you spent a life wandering and helping where you could, focused on rebuilding. Outsiders might not know much of your background, while those who know about orc history see you as a symbol of hope. Wherever you go, some people inevitably look to you for assistance in putting things back together. You become trained in Crafting, and you gain the Quick Repair skill feat.

SFS Standard Tabori Trailblazer Orc

You have spent a significant amount of time in the Tabori Cluster or in another place where modern tech doesn't function. You've learned to navigate and survive using technology that many would consider antiquated. You become trained in Survival. If you would automatically become trained in Survival (from your background or class, for example), you instead become trained in another skill of your choice. In addition, you gain Unconventional Weaponry with any analog weapon of your choice. If you become trained in all martial weapons or guns later on (due to an archetype feat, for example), you can choose an advanced analog weapon at that time to replace your original choice.

Versatile Heritages

The peoples of the Pact Worlds (and other worlds in the galaxy) are many, and they have a long history of intermingling or dabbling with forces capable of altering the very fabric of a mortal body or soul. The children born to such parents might have traits from each of their parents or physiological manifestations of the forces their ancestors were influenced by, manifesting as a specific heritage.

SFS Standard Borai

You've returned from the brink of death as a borai— at once both living and undead. You gain the borai and undead trait, in addition to the traits from your ancestry. Unlike other undead, you don't gain void healing. You're healed by vitality effects and damaged by void damage, as if you were a living creature. Likewise, you can be stabilized, healed, and brought back to life as if you were a living creature, save that you always return to life in your normal undead state (as a borai). You gain low-light vision, or you gain darkvision if your ancestry already has low-light vision. You can choose from borai feats and feats from your ancestry whenever you gain an ancestry feat.

SFS Standard Corpsefolk

You are a reanimated corpse. Your undead nature might physically manifest in gray or pale skin, eyes that turn solid black or white, or an unnatural elongation of the fingernails (or similar appendages). You gain the corpsefolk and undead traits, in addition to the traits from your ancestry. You gain low-light vision, or you gain darkvision if your ancestry already has low-light vision. You can choose from corpsefolk feats and feats from your ancestry whenever you gain an ancestry feat.

SFS Standard Gap-Touched

The Gap has subsumed some part of you and left you with weird powers and jarring existential issues, while giving you a unique ability to perceive the history obscured by the Gap. You gain the Gap-touched trait, in addition to the traits from your ancestry. You can choose from Gap-touched feats and feats from your ancestry whenever you gain an ancestry feat. You gain the Additional Lore general feat for Gap Lore. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to saving throws against mental effects.

SFS Standard Prismeni

You have an innate connection to the Drift. You gain the prismeni trait, in addition to the traits from your ancestry. While you're in the Drift, you can automatically pinpoint the location of Drift beacons, Drift lanes, Drift engines, and other Drift-related technology within a 100-mile radius. If you're Piloting a starship that doesn't have a Drift engine, you can serve as a connection between the Drift and that starship. This is a 1-minute activity that has the concentrate trait, and it allows the starship you're Piloting to enter or exit the Drift. Once within the Drift, the starship travels via conventional thrusters, as normal. When you get a critical failure on a Piloting check to Navigate or Plot Course through the Drift, you get a failure instead. You gain low-light vision, or you gain darkvision if your ancestry already has low-light vision. You can choose from prismeni feats and feats from your ancestry whenever you gain an ancestry feat.

SFS Standard Xenometric Android

You're a constructed version of a non-human ancestry. You gain the android trait, in addition to the trait associated with the ancestry you resemble. You gain the constructed ability but not the low-light vision ability of androids. In addition, your size category and reach changes to match the chosen ancestry. You can select from android feats up to 13th level, any of the feats of the ancestry you resemble, or xenometric android feats whenever you gain an ancestry feat. Choose a heritage from your ancestry, but you don't gain its mechanical benefits. The xenometric android heritage shouldn't be taken by a member of a constructed ancestry, such as android, or a human.
