Tech Ancestries

The sapient creatures who inhabit the galaxy of Desna's Path are wonderfully diverse, with myriad ancestries thriving on countless worlds. Most of the galaxy's ancestries have adopted modern tech as part of their cultural norms and daily routines, but artificial organisms or individuals with synthetic parts experience a deeper connection with technology. Androids, living holograms, and SROs (sentient robotic organisms) are all artificial organisms, meaning their bodies were constructed rather than born of a parent. New androids are manufactured infrequently. Instead, they prefer to procreate through the process of soul cycling: where a soul from the Boneyard reincarnates inside an android body. Living holograms and sentient robotic organisms are often constructed by accident. They begin existence as a drone, service bot, or interactive advertisement and then awaken to true consciousness and surpasses their code, often due to divine intervention from Triune or the machinations of a talented technomancer.
