Aballon is a rocky, cratered world of superheated metallic deserts and deep ice wells. Thousands of years before the Gap, a mysterious civilization called the First Ones utilized Aballon's abundantmetals and solar energy to build a host of servitor machines. The First Ones tasked their machine progeny with harvesting the planet's resources—and then they left. Abandoned by their creators, the machines upgraded themselves and formed their own societies. The machines, now called anacites, have evolved into many forms and functions and established a society where androids and other synthetic beings are welcomed as siblings.
The largest community on Aballon is Striving, an industrious megacity containing a citywide neural network sacred to Triune. Other regions include the industrial forgecity Automatrix; the immense, floating Horse Eye Orbital Plate factory; the sprawling technological ruin of Eternity and other meticulously preserved First Ones cities; the gemencrusted Sea of Glass; and the ore-laden Midnight Trenches.
