SFS Standard Haeshi-Shaa Creature 16

Haeshi-shaas are relatively new members of the Dominion of the Black. These longlived creatures shift unpredictably between a liquid and a gaseous form in a mysterious cycle that lasts their entire lives. In their liquid haeshi form, they're a churning, chunky fluid, while in their vaporous shaa form, they're more akin to hazy brown fog. Regardless of their form, they hum with atonal harmonies that cause great discomfort in others.

Haeshi-shaas serve as a sort of priest caste for the Dominion of the Black, each form preaching a doctrine of entropy and annihilation, though with slightly different nuances between each form. Haeshis tend toward assertive, aggressive practices, while shaas are meditative, often spending many months or years in contemplation. Haeshi-shaas believe that the most perfect and divine state of any object or being is complete separation into its most basic, individual particles. They claim (dubiously) that they can see, even predict, the journey of all things as they travel toward this ultimate entropic end.

In truth, haeshi-shaas can't even predict when they'll shift into their alternate form. Some have tried to catalyze the change by seeking out specific types of life experience or knowledge, but despite the many claims to the contrary, there are no verified instances of a haeshi-shaa forcing the change. Most choose to simply await their next transformation, during which time they have many centuries to spread the Dominion's disturbing doctrines and pursue their inscrutable agendas.

Shaa Form

While demonstrably more powerful while in shaa form, haeshi-shaas tend to spend this portion of their lives in careful contemplation. A shaa interrupted in their contemplation is a vengeful enemy indeed.

Dominion of the Black

Before the Gap, the Dominion of the Black had a strong presence on Aucturn and would occasionally invade other planets, such as Lost Golarion, in search of brains to devour and in pursuit of other mysterious agendas. Now, the people of the Pact Worlds understand that the Dominion has secret bases across the galaxy—the Pact Worlds might draw their attention from time to time, but their missions take them to many worlds and many star systems.

The Dominion creatures most commonly seen by others are mere scouts, while more powerful members of the Dominion conglomeration emerge only rarely to terrorize society. Stories of these creatures are as few as the scant number of people who survive such encounters—most spacefarers know to immediately flee any ship or territory with signs of Dominion presence.
