Verces is a tidally locked world with a sun-scoured light side, a frozen dark side, and a belt of opulent cybercities linked by high-speed bullet trains called the Ring of Nations. The Ring of Nations is governed by a representative Grand Assembly, while frontier outposts and bandit camps struggle to survive outside its borders.
Major locations on Verces include the Ring of Nations, a band of sprawling megacities inhabited by augmented verthani, androids, and many others; Skydock, modern shipyards built atop an ancient space platform; Fullbright, a burning desert of corporate solar farms and fringe Outlaw Kingdoms; and Darkside, a frozen landscape of ice mines and howling tundra stalked by terrible beasts.
