Akiton is a dusty red world of sunbaked deserts, rundown cities, and rusting scrapyards. It was once a booming industrial paradise overflowing with wealth earned from mining thasteron, a starship fuel that fell out of favor after the discovery of hyperspace. Now, Akiton is a decadent battlefield where corporate lynchpins and crime families fight to return to their former glory days while everyday people struggle to get by.
Akiton's regions include Arl, an ancient city infamous for historical blood sports that still draw crowds; the trench city Maro with its Thousand Lights; Ka, a mountain peak sacred to some shobhad communities that cradles the bustling Hivemarket at its base; Khefak Depot, a junker town and tourist hotspot; the rocky Sloughscar Hills, crash site of the Wreck of the Returned; and the icy polar Winterlands. A few contemplative communes thrive underground, remaining aloof from current events while closely monitoring Akiton's geological, meteorological, and political conditions.
