The Diaspora is a geographically diverse asteroid belt scattered over the vast space between the Idari worldship and the planet Eox. The Diaspora contains countless asteroids, starship wrecks, and space anomalies, and has little in the way of government or law enforcement. It's a haven for scavengers, explorers, miners, pirates, criminals in hiding, and unethical scientists. A golden stream of solar energy called the River Between runs through it in an endless loop, providing energy to crèche worlds and acting as a space highway for sarcesian travelers.
The Diaspora was formed during an ancient war, when the twin planets Damiar and Iovo were destroyed by the inhabitants of neighboring Eox. The fragments of these long-lost planets have mingled with the asteroids and planetary debris of the Diaspora. Ancient ruins, lost technology, derelict vessels, mystical sites, and damaged structures beckon discovery by explorers and salvagers. Due to this ancient catastrophe, the Diaspora is rife with supernatural phenomena that defy scientific categorization, including planar fissures, time loops, reality rifts, unpredictable storms of energized plasma and magical energy, hauntings, and countless other mysteries.
