Pioneers have overcome many of the wastelands' dangers, gaining both resilience and the skills needed to survive there. You gain resistance to cold and fire damage equal to half your level. You can disable environmental hazards using Survival instead of Athletics or Thievery. If you're a master in Survival, you can disable environmental hazards that require a proficiency rank of master or lower in Athletics or Thievery.
