Osharu Heritages

Osharus from different biomes on Pabaq have developed diverse adaptations to help them survive the varied challenges of their untamed and stormy planet. Choose one of the following osharu heritages at 1st level.

SFS Standard Ancestor's Armor Osharu

Some modern osharus undergo thaumagenetic alterations to regrow their flexible armplates and regain some of their ancestors' defensive capabilities. The trend has particularly caught on with young osharus swept up in the military fervor that arrived with the sudden presence of Swarm space on Pabaq's cosmic doorstep.

You've undergone the extensive process to develop scaled armplates like your ancestors. Your armplates function like commercial dermal plating augmentation, except they are a permanent part of your body, don't have the tech trait, and don't take an augmentation slot. You can spend credits to upgrade your armplates as if they were dermal plating. You also gain the Shield Block general feat.

Bulky Armplates, Snap Shut

SFS Standard Canopy Crawler Osharu

Isolated research communities dot Jenikar's jungles, populated by botanists, zoologists, and biologists. Those who live in the depths of the sodden rain forests contend daily with camouflaging ambush predators, hypnotic carnivorous plants, and swarms of telepathic amphibious rodents. Osharus from the jungle are lanky and lean, with adhesive secretions and clinging cilia that make them natural climbers. You become trained in Athletics. If you would automatically become trained in Athletics (from your background or class, for example), you instead become trained in another skill of your choice. You gain the Climbing Specialist (25 feet) feat.

SFS Standard Deepmarsh Osharu

Deepmarsh osharus are highly solitary, forsaking the comforts, luxuries, and benefits of society to seek the ascetic wisdom and challenges of the deepest swamps. Novel pathogens and venomous fauna are near-daily occurrences in the primordial breeding ground of the fetid mire, and surviving takes knowledge of the common dangers. You become trained in Survival. If you would automatically become trained in Survival (from your background or class, for example), you instead become trained in another skill of your choice. You also gain poison resistance equal to half your level (minimum 1).

SFS Standard Gengen Osharu

Gengen osharus adapted to the seawaters of Pabaq's briny seas and are credited for mapping the continents of Pabaq as they spread settlements along the coast. Among osharus, gengens are known for their daring, and many famous osharu explorers trace their origins to gengen communities. Gengens are amphibious and can survive indefinitely on land but find immersion in water to be relaxing, and thus they prefer working on aquatic or archipelagic planets for easy access to swimming. You gain a swim Speed of 20 feet, and you gain the amphibious trait, enabling you to breathe in water and air.

SFS Standard Itinerant Osharu

Their love of knowledge and their careful natures make osharus in high demand as subject experts, master trainers, and scholars-in-residence across the galaxy. Osharus who believe they might want to be intergalactic scholars first undertake a series of voyages on Pabaq to test their taste for travel, taking pilgrimages to sites and campuses important in their specialty. You become trained in one Lore skill of your choice and you become trained in Society. If you would automatically become trained in Society (from your background or class, for example), you instead become trained in another skill of your choice. You gain Multilingual as a bonus feat.

SFS Standard Mire Dweller Osharu

The inhabitants of the swampy Mire are hardier than their more studious brethren, and they often eschew academic pursuits in favor of more naturalistic fields like zoology or agriculture. You are well-acquainted with the flora and fauna of the swamps and extrapolate your naturalistic observations to species off Pabaq as well. You become trained in Nature. If you would automatically become trained in Nature (from your background or class, for example), you instead become trained in another skill of your choice. Additionally, you gain a +1 circumstance bonus to saves against plant, poison, and wood effects, and if you roll a success against a poison effect, you get a critical success instead.

Versatile Heritages

The peoples of the Pact Worlds (and other worlds in the galaxy) are many, and they have a long history of intermingling or dabbling with forces capable of altering the very fabric of a mortal body or soul. The children born to such parents might have traits from each of their parents or physiological manifestations of the forces their ancestors were influenced by, manifesting as a specific heritage.

SFS Standard Borai

You've returned from the brink of death as a borai— at once both living and undead. You gain the borai and undead trait, in addition to the traits from your ancestry. Unlike other undead, you don't gain void healing. You're healed by vitality effects and damaged by void damage, as if you were a living creature. Likewise, you can be stabilized, healed, and brought back to life as if you were a living creature, save that you always return to life in your normal undead state (as a borai). You gain low-light vision, or you gain darkvision if your ancestry already has low-light vision. You can choose from borai feats and feats from your ancestry whenever you gain an ancestry feat.

SFS Standard Corpsefolk

You are a reanimated corpse. Your undead nature might physically manifest in gray or pale skin, eyes that turn solid black or white, or an unnatural elongation of the fingernails (or similar appendages). You gain the corpsefolk and undead traits, in addition to the traits from your ancestry. You gain low-light vision, or you gain darkvision if your ancestry already has low-light vision. You can choose from corpsefolk feats and feats from your ancestry whenever you gain an ancestry feat.

SFS Standard Gap-Touched

The Gap has subsumed some part of you and left you with weird powers and jarring existential issues, while giving you a unique ability to perceive the history obscured by the Gap. You gain the Gap-touched trait, in addition to the traits from your ancestry. You can choose from Gap-touched feats and feats from your ancestry whenever you gain an ancestry feat. You gain the Additional Lore general feat for Gap Lore. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to saving throws against mental effects.

SFS Standard Prismeni

You have an innate connection to the Drift. You gain the prismeni trait, in addition to the traits from your ancestry. While you're in the Drift, you can automatically pinpoint the location of Drift beacons, Drift lanes, Drift engines, and other Drift-related technology within a 100-mile radius. If you're Piloting a starship that doesn't have a Drift engine, you can serve as a connection between the Drift and that starship. This is a 1-minute activity that has the concentrate trait, and it allows the starship you're Piloting to enter or exit the Drift. Once within the Drift, the starship travels via conventional thrusters, as normal. When you get a critical failure on a Piloting check to Navigate or Plot Course through the Drift, you get a failure instead. You gain low-light vision, or you gain darkvision if your ancestry already has low-light vision. You can choose from prismeni feats and feats from your ancestry whenever you gain an ancestry feat.

SFS Standard Xenometric Android

You're a constructed version of a non-human ancestry. You gain the android trait, in addition to the trait associated with the ancestry you resemble. You gain the constructed ability but not the low-light vision ability of androids. In addition, your size category and reach changes to match the chosen ancestry. You can select from android feats up to 13th level, any of the feats of the ancestry you resemble, or xenometric android feats whenever you gain an ancestry feat. Choose a heritage from your ancestry, but you don't gain its mechanical benefits. The xenometric android heritage shouldn't be taken by a member of a constructed ancestry, such as android, or a human.
